Greece had allocated 170 million euros to prevent forest fires

Ministry of environment and climate change on Thursday announced plans to allocate 171.59 million. euros to support initiatives related to forest protection from fire zones Mushroomed.

Reportedly, the funds will be used for funding initiatives at the local government level and forestry.

In particular, to 15 million euros will be spent on improving the road network within the forest in order to improve living conditions in forested areas and development of eco-tourism. 40.5 million euros will be spent on preventive measures to fight forest vozgoraniĆ¢mi, € 93.6 million for the rehabilitation of degraded forest areas, flood, etc.

It should be noted that forest fires in Greece in 2007 resulted in a State of emergency in large parts of the country. Due to fire, covering most of southern Greece were evacuated dozens of settlements threatened ancient monuments, and the country was forced to seek assistance from the international community to fight nature. In total, the fires of 2007 in Greece killed over 70 people.
